The Four Columns Inn is located in the Southeast corner of Vermont with easy accessibility from both the New York and Boston areas via Interstate 91. The nearest and most direct airport is Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Connecticut (1 1/2 hour drive). A drive from Boston is around 2 hours, and New York is usually less than 4 hours.
Please note that GPS navigation systems will often lead you through secondary roads, which in Vermont may be more of an adventure that you would like. This is particualrly important in the winter when many roads are not mantained. It is wise to conusult our directions or a map when using GPS.

Directions from New York City
Take I-95 North or any parkway north to I-91 North in New Haven. From there, follow the "Directions from the South" below.
Directions from the South
Take I-91 North into Vermont and get off the highway at Exit 2 (the middle Brattleboro exit). At the end of the ramp, turn left toward Brattleboro on Western Avenue. Follow Western Avenue approximately 1 mile into town – staying left at the fork. At the T intersection make a left on Main Street and proceed up the hill, staying in the left lane. Follow green signs for Route 30 North, making a left and then right as you navigate around a small park. Stay on Route 30 for 11.5 miles north to Newfane. As you enter Newfane, you will see a pretty village green on your left, with a large four-columned courthouse in the center of the green. The Four Columns Inn is located behind the courthouse...turn left on West Street.
Directions from the North
Take I-91 South to Exit 4 (Putney). At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Route 5 South. Travel approximately 2.3 miles to Schoolhouse Road on your right. Turn right onto Schoolhouse Road and stay on the main road right (this becomes East-West Road) until you reach the stop sign at the four-way intersection in Dummerston Center. Go across the intersection (a slight bearing to the left) and continue on East-West Road to the covered bridge. Cross the covered bridge to meet Route 30. Turn right onto Route 30 and travel 4 miles north to Newfane. As you enter Newfane, you will see a pretty village green on your left, with a large four-columned courthouse in the center of the green. The Four Columns Inn is located behind the courthouse...turn left on West Street.
Directions from the East
If you are coming from the Boston area, take Route 2 West or the Mass Pike to I-91 and follow the "From the South" directions above.
If you are coming from Maine or New Hampshire, come through Keene, New Hampshire and head out of Keene on Route 9 West to Brattleboro. Cross the Connecticut River to find yourself in Vermont. Continue to the round about and bear right at the first opportunity onto Route 5 North. About 1 mile later, bear left onto Middle Road. Stay on the main road until you come to the stop sign in Dummerston Center. Turn left at the four-way stop onto East-West Road. Follow this road to the covered bridge. Cross the covered bridge to meet Route 30. Turn right onto Route 30 and travel 4 miles north to Newfane. As you enter Newfane, you will see a pretty village green on your left, with a large four-columned courthouse in the center of the green. Directions from the West
From Albany, New York, take Route 7 East to Vermont. When this road crosses into Vermont, it becomes Route 9. Stay on Route 9 East straight through Bennington and Wilmington and on toward Brattleboro. Cross over I-91 and go just over half a mile to find Cedar Street on your left. Turn left onto Cedar Street and follow it to the 3rd stop sign at the end of the street. This is Route 30. Turn left onto Route 30 North and travel 11.5 miles north to Newfane. As you enter Newfane, you will see a pretty village green on your left, with a large four-columned courthouse in the center of the green. The Four Columns Inn is located behind the courthouse...turn left on West Street.
