Mountain View Horseback Rides
Our friends at Mountain View Ranch have been hosts to many of our guests for years. John and Letitia will match your skill level with the ‘horsepower’ you need before you begin you memorable trek through the Vermont Mountains. The ranch is north of The Four Columns, so before you go we can provide you with a map and suggest routes for other activities in the area. We will be happy to make your arrangements, or you can contact the Ranch directly (Note 24 hour cancellation policy applies)

Friesians of Majesty
It isn’t often that you have a chance to see the magnificence of these beautiful black Friesian horses. Robert LaBrie is world renowned for his talent for breeding and training his Friesians of Majesty. Just 20 minutes north of the Inn, Robert offers sleigh rides in the winter, horse drawn carriage rides in the summer, personal tours of the farm, and frequently scheduled shows where you can see the proud performance of these stately horses. Bike Rentals and Tours
Some of the best biking in the country is right here. Country lanes and back roads will take you through the Vermont countryside, unique in its unspoiled beauty.
Take a short drive to Putney and find West Hill Bikes; a great place to rent or start your bike tour through the local area. Races and mountain tours are scheduled throughout the warmer months, so you may choose to participate with others, or go it alone. If you bring your own bike, we have suggestions for routes from the Inn, using ‘the roads less traveled’ for mountain bikes, or the paved routes for street bikes. Four Columns Guests receive a 10% discount on bike rentals.

Battenkill Canoe and Kayak
The Battenkill river is a guest favorite to spend a summer afternoon meandering on a kayak or canoe for about as long as you care to go. You can choose the length of your adventure, faring as far as New York State if you are inclined.
